3. did you know

the sunrise lies next to you in bed 
careful not to stir and pull you too
soon from your dreams

from the bright hum of rest blending the small
muscles of your face in her landscape of brilliant
hues 

she waits like eternity in tickled anticipation of
your eyes’ first flutter open in the whirlpool of her
gaze

and there’s a slow morning breeze with
yearning arms at your waist crowning
gratitude for your breath’s unison in her

and quilts of morning dew curling meadows
of delight like legs entwined in savoring each
circulatory rush 

there are mountains still trembling at the holy
kiss of your footsteps, waters rocking themselves
in the memory of your skin, trees tracing your way
back in tucked away places between rings

there are roots determined to hold you like fistfuls
of blushing earth, grasses stumbling in chatter and
butterfly bellies, brimming in rapt communion with
you
