we are one body
blood and salt and sinew
marsh and mountain
sand and ash
droplet and wave
cancerous cells live in every human body
but most are released before creating a disturbance
the impulse to
dominate, to harm
lives in every human
body
cellular evolution has created within complex organisms an absolute boundary between me and not me
cells can become me, can no longer be
but in every moment what is not me must be eliminated
what is me goes unexamined
this is how disease happens…. a scrambling between what I call me and what is keeping me alive
but all matter belongs, if not in me it takes refuge in the soil, in the snaking of foliage or the flutter of tiny translucent insect wings
our earth body disposes of no one, she gathers every molecule in the atmospheric canopy of her arms
